What is the AmericasBarometer?
The AmericasBarometer is a consortium of universities and think-tanks dedicated to increasing the scholarly and public understanding of democratic values and behaviors in the Americas. The survey is the only one that covers the Americas, North, Central, South and the Caribbean. Each survey is a national probability sample of voting-age adults carried out in face-to-face interviews (except for the U.S. and Canada, where the national samples are web-based).
In 2004, the first round of AmericasBarometer surveys was conducted. Every two years, another round followed. Now, the AmericasBarometer series includes the following survey years: 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016/17, 2018/19, and 2021.

In addition, specialized surveys covering specific countries or subpopulations have been carried out, which are available for purchase on an individual, repository basis. The by country and year shows the complete AmericasBarometer series (all of which are included in the annual subscription).
These surveys have given rise to scores of studies and publications on various aspects of democratic values and behaviors in the Americas, a number of which can be read on-line at no cost on this web site. A key goal of the AmericasBarometer is to provide widespread access to this data to further encourage the research.
