This week we are taking a break from the Insights series to let you know about a funding opportunity. The Latin American Public Opinion Project (LAPOP), with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is pleased to announce a call for proposals for small grants for research on discrimination, marginality, gender, and democracy in Latin America.

Eligible applicants are faculty members, researchers, and graduate students in any country whose work is related to democratization in Latin America and who are conducting research projects in recognized academic or research institutions. The project must use as its basis data from the LAPOP AmericasBarometer.

The application deadline is May 1, 2011. Application materials and the call for proposals are below. Please contact Amy Erica Smith for further information at amy.e.smith@vanderbilt.edu.

Esta semana realizamos una pausa en la serie Perspectivas para informarle sobre la oportunidad de conseguir una beca. El Proyecto de Opinión Pública de América Latina (LAPOP), con el apoyo económico de la Agencia de los Estados Unidos para el Desarrollo Internacional (USAID), llama a una convocatoria de becas dirigidas a proyectos de investigación sobre discriminación, marginalidad, género y democracia en América Latina.

Las becas están abiertas a profesores, investigadores y estudiantes de posgrado de todo el mundo, cuyos trabajos están relacionados con el tema de democratización en América Latina, y que estén desarrollando proyectos de investigación en instituciones académicas y de investigación reconocidas. Los proyectos deberán usar como base fundamental los datos del Barómetro de las Américas.

El plazo para postular es el 1 de mayo de 2011. La convocatoria y el formulario de solicitud están por debajo. Para cualquier pregunta, escriba a amy.e.smith@vanderbilt.edu.
